2.A Development of Optical Coatings for the OMEGA Upgrade

چکیده

An intensive in-house effort in the past year has produced coatings and devices that will survive the peak 35 1-nm fluence expected in the OMEGA Upgrade. The stringent ultraviolet requirements for the upgrade stem from the decision to place the frequency-conversion crystals in the laser bay (rather than at the target chamber).l At that time, only one report of satisfactory laser-damage thresholds for 351-nm high reflectors existed.2 Reports of satisfactory distributed phase plates (DPP's) did not exist, and tests indicated the thresholds of existing designs would not suffice. Modification of the laser beam-transport-system design (see Section 1 .A, this issue) lowered the thresholds from those listed in the Preliminary Design Document.1 These new thresholds are listed in Table 44.111. As seen in the table, fluences in the blue were lowered for high reflectors and DPP's, but remained the same for antireflection coatings.

Development of spacecraft black thermal control coatings using the synthesized mesoporous Co3O4 pigment

The thermo-optical properties of coated surface are important for spacecraft thermal control coatings which depend on the optical properties and structure of the coating material. These coatings control the temperature by their capability of outer energy absorption and its emission. The optical properties of pigment can be improved if the pigment contains a high fraction of voids in its structu...

EFFECT OF MULTI-STEP ANODIZING METHODS ON THE OPTICAL ABSORPTION OF BLACK COATINGS ON 2024 ALUMINUM ALLOY

Development of materials with the ideal black body absorption spectrum are of great interest. Such materials could improve the efficiency of solar cells, and passive cooling and heat transfer systems as well as the protective and decorative coatings. Fabricating black anodizing coatings is promising for this purpose because they exhibit low light reflection from the surface. Such coatings can ...

Influence of Thickness and Number of Silver Layers in the Electrical and Optical Properties of ZnO/Ag/ZnO/Ag/ZnO ultra-Thin Films Deposited on the Glass for Low-Emissivity Applications

We report on transparent ZnO/Ag/ZnO and ZnO/Ag/ZnO/Ag/ZnO thin-films were deposited on the glass substrate by RF and DC sputtering for ZnO and Ag targets, respectively. The electrical and optical properties of the single and double Low Emissivity coatings were investigated with respect to the deposition time of Ag mid layer. The visible transmittance remains about 65% for single and 45% for...

WEAR REESISTANCE OF NANOSTRUCTURED AND CONVENTIONAL YTTRIA-STABILIZED ZIRCONIA COATINGS

Partially stabilized zirconia (PSZ) has been proven to be an excellent candidate as a thermal barrier coating (TBe) for hot sections in, for instance, heat or internal combustion engines and gas turbine parts. The main functions of these coatings are reducing heat losses, reducing fuel consumption, increasing efficiency, and extending durability and life. One of the main problems involved is we...

Optical pH Sensor Based on Quinizarin for Alkaline pH Regions

The development of an optical pH sensor based on immobilization of quinizarin (1,4-dihydroxyanthraquinone) on a triacetylcellulose membrane was described. The resulting membrane exhibited fast color change from yellow to violet, while changing the pH in alkaline region. The immobilized quinizarin showed a broader dynamic range from (pH 9.4-11.4) with respect to free form (pH 8.8-10.4). The sens...
